Assembly: Latina storyteller and author Olga Loya uses a dramatic mix of Spanish and English to share traditional tales from Latin American as well as stories from her own varied and colorful life growing up in East Los Angeles. Known internationally and described as an "alchemist" who can conjure up images and fill them with life, her shows are bursting with color and passion. Stories inspired by legend and current headlines, reality and dreams, ancient myths and personal experience, healing stories and tales of extraordinary women are shared with imagination and exuberance as Loya uses her voice, body and sometimes music and dance to draw her audience into the imaginative and surprising worlds of the tales she tells.

Stories from Latin America – Singing And Dancing Through Stories - the culture of Latin America is passed on through personal stories about family and life stories about community, stories about taking responsibility, stories about building character. Celebrate through dancing and singing as you hear folktales, personal stories and myths. K-3

Continuing The Tradition - Celebrate the magic of Los Cuentos (stories) with folktales about self image, personal stories about discovering of one's own culture, myths from long ago that help us to understand the present, folktales about learning about our own strength. Learn about the Latino culture as you learn about yourself.

Let's Work Together - The power of community and people working together are two of the themes reflected in these multicultural stories of Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas.

CHOICES: - The dangers of drugs and peer group pressures and the choices we make are shown through personal stories and folklore.

Dancing Through La Vida (life): Stories, which incorporate exploring the themes of racism, self-acceptance, forgiveness and redemption, featuring a short story where a mother takes in the boy who killed her son are told. In the performance you will hear a theater piece with music, a folktales with singing and a monologue. This is a multi-disciplinary performance utilizing theater and music. This show is geared for middle and high school audiences.
